With their 23-14 win over the New York Buzz, the Springfield Lasers have clinched the top seed in the Western Conference and will host the Advanta WTT Western Conference Championship on July 24. Despite their 23-13 loss to the Kansas City Explorers, the New York Sportimes clinched a playoff spot in the Advanta WTT Eastern Conference Championship to be held on the court of the top seed of the Eastern Conference on July 24.
New York Sportimes Coach Chuck Adams Suspended
World TeamTennis suspended the New York Sportimes’ coach Chuck Adams for tonight’s match and fined him an undisclosed amount for violating the World TeamTennis Coaches’ Code of Conduct. This is the first punishment handed down by World TeamTennis for the on court incident that occurred in Washington D.C. on July 16 during the WTT match between the New York Sportimes and the Washington Kastles. The League continues to investigate the incident to determine if there will be any additional punishments issued.
