Gary Gelfand Introduced as Caps 2008 Announcer

The Caps are pleased to announce Gary Gelfand will be the official Caps announcer for all home matches this summer.  Gary has been doing Live TV for the past 15 years.  Most recently he was the Host of "The Sports Show" on CBS-13.  Prior to that he was a big part of the local morning show, "Good Day Sacramento.”  Aside from his local on air TV work, Gelfand has hosted shows on the national level at CNN. 

 

Gelfand is excited to be back in the world of tennis and involved with the CAPS.  "Being part of the local media I was given the opportunity play against Anna Kournikova and return a serve from Andre Agassi.  I had no business doing either but it was all in good fun.  How did it go?  Well I was too busy looking at Anna, and Agassi's serve painted the center line and was past me before I even had a chance to react.   I've covered the Capitals for many years and I am very excited about the opportunity to now work for the team.  I'm looking forward to 2008, the playoffs, and another championship, GO CAPS!!”
